Need Help HP R1000 Ink Smudging/ Dragging NEED HELP ASAP

We printed a heavily blue sign on coroplast. We then printed 3 different signs, two on PVC and one on brushed alupanel. Both of these signs came out perfectly. We then went to print those red signs on Aluminum, as seen in the image attached, and this is where our issue started. As you can see there are ink smudges all over the print and heavily where the text is.

Below is what I tried to resolve my issue:
  • Checked all of my printheads for damages. No damages
  • Checked print head service station caps, all clear no damage
  • Checked under the carriage for any ink smudging, all clean
  • Ran our printer maintenance, still happening
  • Tried running test prints with the print heads raised, still happening
  • Last resort we changed the left spittoon early and did another print test. Test came back clear. We thought this was the resolution to our issue since we printed the rest of the day with no issues.

  • This morning, we printed another heavily blue print on coroplast, and the blue ink smudged all through the white text on the print
  • We then ran another test print for another project on coroplast and had the smudging issues again. (as seen in the fire dept connection prints. We again tried raising the heads for these tests and no change
  • We tried flipping the spittoon to the clean side hoping this would solve our issue again but this time no luck with that

I am in contact with HP but were hoping to resolve the issue quickly as we have a lot of printing to do

Any help from anyone who has seen this before or anyone who knows what may be causing it would be amazing!

Haven't seen that one before.
Did you calibrate the blades and make sure the aerosol frame is cleaned at the bottom and filter is replaced as well?

Next I would really consider replacing the cyan/light cyan printhead. It's the logical thing to do.
I've seen other weird things happen when the head goes out and this fits right in.

We have done all of the above except changing that print head.

That may be the solution but based off the fact that its a fairly new head and has no visible damages I don't want to do that just yet unless HP advises to. They aren't exactly cheap

Just an update for anyone reading this, It ended up being a connection issue with some wires in the print head carriage. We had a tech come out to fix it and were back up and running

I saw this many times in different FB printers. You have a problem with head or something around it. Short circuit from time to time around heads. Head, wires, PH board, connections.
