Ink pump

Iv got a mutoh Vj-1614 and having troubles at the capping station. Iv has the ink pump off several times, I’m aware of the disassembly and the re-assembly. What has me confuse is how much hose actually goes inside if it, iv put it together several times and the wiper will kick out and go back in and then it goes to do a suction cycle and it locks up . Could someone please explain to me how to rebuild one of these. Does the wiper have to be all the way pushed back? And what about the little chrome piece in there that swivels one the rotating part? How much line goes in , please explain. Thanks

I had a pump early in the year that had just melted.
It had only been in the machine a month.
I think something had been missed when the plastics had been made as it was if it was not for a solvent machine.
