Ink syphoning by itself!?

Is it possible for my ink to syphon itself out into the waste station!? If so what would cause this. I have noticed my bottle full to the rim a couple times and I really don't do to many cleanings.. also I've noticed Im going through more ink cartridges then normal.

Could be that your pumps are busted, and aren't sealing the lines when not in use. If they're left wide open when the head docks, it's possible for ink to just get syphoned out of the system.

Oh that's definitely a possibility! Even if your pumps are fine, wicking would be a serious enough drain to pull more ink during operation than otherwise possible. Probably wouldn't see empty carts the next morning, but you'd still be losing quite a bit.

Thanks guys. Has anyone 'made' their own cap pads before!? My capping station is perfect but the pads are a bit saturated and swelled. Looks like if I had the right material it would be simple to cut those little pads out of it and put in saving $180 or more

Temporary solution if you have this problem, clamp the waste ink tubes or pull out the ink cartridges after the printer had been switched off.

pads

take the pads out, put in the middle of that phone book you never use. this will flatten them out and dry them. At this point you can split them in half and re install. Will work for a while. The new caps come with a wire mesh insert to prevent the swelling. They are at www.solventinkjet.com
