Install window graphics, but cutting into glass when triming

I was going to put some window perf on my new Hyundai Sonata but noticed that the glass is treated and is damaged when I try to trim the graphics. How do you deal with this or am I out of luck?

Thanks Team

What Chicago said, ONLY use Stainless Steel blades on glass. Carbon steel blades WILL scratch/cut the glass. If you have a heavy hand or hold your knife at a steep angle then Stainless Steel can scratch/cut the glass (just keep knife below 30° and take it easy on the pressure).

What do you mean when you say your glass is "treated"?

Honestly, I'm not sure if it is treated. That was just the first thing I thought when I was cutting on the glass and noticed the scratches.

I just tried it with a stainless steel blade and it cuts without leaving marks. The new blades I have are carbide-tipped. I never even thought about that.

Thanks gang!

While I much prefer the Olfa Black Max blades - do NOT use them on glass. On glass we change out to a regular Olfa silver (stainless) blade. As already mentioned the black carbon steel blades (and some specialty coated ones like titanium or whatever) are too sharp and hard and will damage glass.
