Installing protective film over vinyl lettering on glass

What is the best way to protect a vinyl lettering installation on a glass door that is constantly having people go thru it. The vinyl lettering is small , maybe 3" x 15" in gold letters, but i need to protect it as it came off before from other people. Should I then apply a clear vinyl over the entire glass panel , what is the best way?

^ Yes.

But if you have to cover the whole thing with a thin cast laminate. Use heat and a squeegee to form it around each letter edge.

Unless it's tinted, I would do as AF said "reverse cut and stick on inside".

X2 with heat on glass, can be done to "just" warm the vinyl but don't concentrate heat in one spot or heat glass too much or you will be buying a new pane.

I've never had to apply heat to laminate over.even the thickest materials. But then I use solid 1/2" thick felt squeegees if that makes any difference.
