Is this a crazy low bid for a wrap?

I had someone contact me about a wrap last week. I normally basically don't even bother figuring up a cost because in the past, every price they get is basically giving away the material and their time. I wouldn't be printing my wrap in house, so maybe that's where the problem lies.

I added up the measurements and it came out to 312 sq ft. It's a basic box truck with rivits, and a overhead door in the back. Nothing mega complicated, but would still take a little time. She said that their lowest price was $1,500. I did the math and I can't even sub out my print for that cost...it'd be somewhere like $75+ in the hole just in materials.

Is that par for the course, or is this crazier than normal? Heck, maybe that's a respectable price...but I just know when I went to my wrap school, this is a stupid low price, even though I know that's normal in our industry now.

That seems crazy low, I just bid out a box truck last week and it wasn't anywhere near that low. For the square footage your talking I would have been at $3744.00 and I too would sub out the print and in my case the install.

1. It is crazy low, in general.

2. You are paying too much for your wholesale printing.

3. Why are you posting this in the open section rather than the premium section?

Your biding against someone using cheap material. I would just tell the customer what problems the are going to have going with the lower bid due to rivets. Then when that wrap fails for the reasons you told them next time they will come to you first.

I guess I wasn't going to get into specifics on price, that's why it's open. I just wondered if that was a lowball price. I'm ok moving it if Fred wants to...even though he already had to move it once! I assumed it was crazy low, but just wanted to make sure.

~2800 - nothing less.

Educate your customers, let the know the difference between calendered vinyl, and cast vinyl. The life span, and what not. No one can wrap a box truck that size, with print and install and make any type of profit....

They are either lyars, It could have been 3000.00 or someones using cheap material. I'm running into cheap material. I had a shop outbid me on some partial wraps and they are falling off the trucks and have tons of bubbles, major shrinkage etc.. Thats another story.

Had to post again my count was up to 666.

While if you would've just posted your next post about anything, it wouldn't have matter at all. If you're superstitious, now you have it in writing to be in black & white for all eternity........ you are now doomed...........

It's for Habitat for Humanity...so I'm going to think nicer instead of uglier and hope someone is just working for free on purpose and is donating everything but the material.

i just printed/installed 8 habitat for humanity Box trucks here in denver. They made sure we were using 3m 180cv3.. an no calendered vinyl...that was only after i educated them on what the difference was.
One of them was a 30 foot box truck. this thing was massive.

so it was a 16' npr. we do them for $1995 for materials and installation. the douche down the street would probably take the $1500 job.

KEEP IN MIND, you're going to have to remove their old crap. Be prepared to take a day out just for that.

unless it's a new box truck.,

Either way, I told her I'd pass and to let me know when they have another project I'd be glad to bid on. I just refuse to work for free.

I'd be around $2500 on that sq.ft. flat job with standard rivets using 180c. Doesn't include design or removal though..and they have to clean it first..and if it's oxidized it costs extra for a ghost off cleaning. But I don't sub any part of it out.
