Hey gang,

I have been doing some casual designwork the past 6 years or so. Steadily increasing into more and more work. Have been sending stuff out to be printed, but considering purchase of my own equipment. Is this a good deal on these items? Will the cutter be able to handle the thick stuff used for ATV/MX graphics?

Mimaki JV3-75SPII printer
Mimaki CG-75FX contour cutting plotter
Daige laminator
Everything is in great shape, the guy just put $1,800 in printer for a new head and complete tune up.

Complete package $5,200 OBO

Thanks!

Don't know much about that equipment, but for all that stuff for only 5k.... sounds way too good to be true.

It's more than likely older technology, but to get your feet wet, that doesn't matter much.

None of it sounds high tech, but even if it doesn't do your specific thick cutting, you're getting a well rounded arsenal.

As mentioned it is older (like 5 to 10 years old) technology/equipment but it if is in perfect working order that is not a bad deal at all. You will need a RIP to drive the printer and software for the cutter. Mimaki Rasterlink for the printer and Mimaki Finecut for the cutter. If those are not included plan on spending at least another grand..... FlexiSign Pro supports both and has one of the easiest print/cut abilities out there. It is nice to set the contour cut, print, and have the cut job all in the same application versus adding cut marks via a plug-in in Illustrator or Corel, printing from some other RIP, then going back to the plug-in program for the cutter to send the cut job.

Good deals are out there.

It would likely make some of you ill to learn how little we opened our sign shop for. Craigslist, and Government auctions are a huge asset. We are fully outfitted too. 65" printer, 2 plotters, 2 laminators, full wood shop and compliment of tools, and a small CNC router.

Thanks for the replies guys!

Next question....

I do 99% of my work in CorelDraw X5... is there a way to plot/cut directly from there? I am also going to find out about the $1k in software you mention.

Thanks!

we cut directly through coreldraw, but honestly I have no idea how. our tech guy figured it out. for printing, we use rasterlink, which came with our mimaki.

WRONG! You are downloading the full version. YOU DO NEED A PREFORMATTED DVD WITH THE NAME FINECUT. The version that you download will try to install. It will look for a cd named finecut. If it finds it, boom baby boom. YOU NOW CAN INSTALL the version that you downloaded for FREE. THE Preformatted DVD does not have to have anything on it, it just needs the name FINECUT. There is no license or dongle. Just install and enjoy!! I hope this helps you.
DOWNLOAD THE NEWEST VERSION FOR FREE!. Some companys sell this version for 277 EURO. You do not have to pay. All you need is a formatted dvd with the name FINECUT

This thread is over 4 years old. Hopefully it will help someone, but this stuff was old back then. Who knows ??
