janome mb4 how to run with no Rcs

Janome mb4 was given to me but the Rcs screen will not turn on. Stopped working after update was told. I see that to operate the machine the Rcs screen is optional. manual says a computer can be used. Im unable to find a screen to purchase so wondering what kind of software will it need to run the machine? I see one called digitizer pro. Is that my only option to just run the machine even if I have digitized files? Thanks

With essentially high end consumer, low end commercial type of machines, it will be best to use the software that they hock versus others that may offer direct control, say Wilcom or Wings. Reason being (at least with something along the lines of Brother PRs), they do things that really want to keep "you" in their eco system. How they handle trims/stops, and even color changes sometimes have specific quirks that typical commercial machines don't have and thus commercial software.

It would be best to talk to a Janome shop to make sure for your version and the software as well when getting into machines like this.

And yes, even if you already have digitizing patterns, you will need software of some type (either on the machine itself or on the computer) to send, translate and control the machine.

You'll have to talk with service and see, someone that will be honest and not try to sell you something that you may or may not need. Not all machines are the same, some can, some can't. It depends on if they can automatically detect the connection and roll with it or if something needs to be initiated on the machine to do it.
