Does the solid-state power supply produce high voltage DC? I cannot discern any strobing ( = no light between the AC high voltage peaks) when visually quickly scanning across the the tube.
AC =- - - - - - - DC = ________
When I grasp the tube on the Left side, the whole length fully brightens. Grasped on the Right side, not far from where it enters the base, it does not brighten. Indicates DC?
Also, in the base, from the circuit board two prongs protrude which had [_] metal? squares which may have been parallel to each other. They fell off. A form of "air capacitor"?
Thank you,
Robert
