What PC set-up are you all running on your Mutoh printers?
What is the longest that you have let your printer sit with out printing.

The longest, 3 days... I use it M-F at least 3 hours a day...

I run my VJ-1204 with Wasatch Softrip. It's on a dual P4 Dell with 4GB ram.

As for sitting idle, most everyone will tell you the best advice is don't if you can help it. That said, I turn my printer off every night and leave it off all weekend. Other than a quick clean the next morning it gets right back to work with no issues. Longest I've left my printer off was 4 days during Thanksgiving and Xmas holiday.

*I run only Mutoh brand ink and you must take into account the current condition of your head, dampers, capping station, pump, etc. If you have a weak link somewhere in there, you'll have problems.

I had mine off for about 3-4 days a few times over the last 3 years... no problems. I prefer to leave it on though so the head stays wet.

Are Mutoh 1614 printers supposed to be left on 24/7?

You can set up the auto clean function to do an economy clean every 12 hours and leave it.

If you plan on it being idle for 2 weeks or more, you should flush it out with cleaning solution.

12 hour is too long for a 1614. 2 week is too long for a 1614. I'm SURE temp and humidity play a part, but overall BOTH #'s are wrong for a 1614. 6 hr economy min clean. More than 4 days or so w/o printing and you'll have missing nozzles.

Both will be sufficient if you maintain your printer properly and in good working condition and your maintenance station is in good working order.

Although we recommend every 9 hours for autoclean.
