JV3-160SP - yellow ink "overspray?" - SEE PIC

I have searched this forum and found the terms "ghosting" and "overspray", but I'm not sure either of those is the proper term for my issue. See attached pic (ON PIC, THE ISSUE IS AT THE BOTTOM). On the left side of some of our prints, there is a faint yellow "halo" effect, ONLY to the left side (furthest away from print head). It looks as if yellow ink is being shot out of on hole on the left side of the head. This is an intermittent issue and comes and goes with no rhyme or reason. We have rebooted the computer and had it go away, but we aren't sure whether that was a coincidence. Also, one of the yellow ink cartridges seems to need replacing more than the other cartridges, leading us to believe this head is discharging ink when it shouldn't be.

I know the yellow "haze" is faint in the pic, but it is there to the bottom, but not to the left. Any thoughts on a solution for this??

what does your test draw look like?

issue could be one of a few things:
1) dying printhead (worst case)
2) static (tech's go-to answer for "I have no clue"), which shouldn't be the case for 1/4 printheads
3) bad/settled&seperated ink (best-case). try a head wash to flush the system, and replace with brand-new ink cartridges before risking the expense of printhead replacement
4) too much gunk built-up on printhead? uncertain, but my jv3 always seemed to throw me some curveballs whenever I neglected cleanings for too long.
5) misalignment or incorrect values input into alignment menu? ...i'm reaching pretty far here, I don't think this actually results in "ghosting" or "overspray". In my experience, it has been jagged-lines or complete shift of solid lines. I only throw this in here, as it looks like you're not only spraying below, but also falling-short on the top & side. Slant adjust, maybe?

how old is the printhead? how long since it has been printing at 100%?

I probably lean to #4.. I used to clean the dried ink around the heads everyday. If dried ink build up it could deflex the air flow and cause the overspray.
Humidity could be a problem too but it is more for the UV printers. However due to hot/cold ink could condense underneath the head it may not clog the head yet but enough to cause the overspay. Try to clean underneath the head by sliding a piece of strong tissue paper back and forth...
Hope this would help.

PS: Also check the yellow pump/ ink cap. If there is no suction it could give you problem too.
