Ditchmeister,
The L260 includes 61" printer with a take-up assy. The printer comes in one box and the take-up assy comes in another box.
The L210 is 61" printer only. The take-up assy is priced as an "option". Generally, if an enduser orders a L210 with the take-up option, they pay about the same as the L260.
Other than that, no difference.
Since the media is dry once passed the printheads, many folks will simply print to the floor (if it's clean) since there is no chance the prints will stick together. That said, HP figured they offer the L210 as an afterthought allowing end users to make the decision as to whether or not they really wanted or needed take-up reel? An L210 without the take up saves them $2,700.00 over the price of the L260.
The real saavy enduser will purchase an L210 for a tad over $12K and purchase a third party take-up system for under $1K. We sold a thirdparty take-up for L25500 customers because the L25500 take-up was not motorized.
Hope that helps.
