The Story

2 years ago I was approached by a RV dealer to wrap a used but mint Rv
for a university promo program, The Rv dealer was leasing this Rv for 2 years to the school, It was finally done by us with 180 cv3 and paid by the Rv dealer but was calculated in the lease and billed out to th school.

Program is now over

Rv dealer calls to ask how do we pull the wrap off, I give him simple explanations
and he does it himself.

Rv dealer calls me to tell me that the wrap peeled off the silicone and peeled the paint with the silicone, but he states to me that he is not blaming us for this, but states the school should pay for the repairs.

Next day the school calls and asks a few questions, more regarding the removal
then the wrap itself, told them that usually with a bit of heat 180cv3 will remove
pretty easily and might leave a bit of residue at some places but nothing drastic.

I know Im not responsable, but who is

a bit more explanations on the wrap.
3m primer was not used for this since I knew it was short term
we wrapped over the silicone because we knew it was short term
and whoever put silicone around everything was pretty much drunk because
it would vary so much from an 1/8 to almost a full inch in some spots
so we wanted a nice install, but I always tell the customer to remove it but they figured it was short term and I pretty much agreed with them.

Who's fault is it?

Not to put blame but we used to have an installer who was sort of like this, he would scratch the **** out of some glass, then move onto the next piece and do the exact same thing. Why didn't the guys who removed the wrap stop as soon as they saw that the paint and silicone was peeling and call you and either get more direction or have you come in to remove it. All in all I would say the guys who pulled it off would be at fault as this could have been done another way as soon as it was spotted that the silicone/paint was peeling.

#1 - Paint should NOT be coming up with silicone or the wrap unless it was either painted RIGHT before they applied the silicone or even afterwards (???). This is the manufacturer's problem.
#2 - Silicone can (and in a lot of case should) be removed and reapplied when a wrap is installed and/or removed. I could see the installer trimming along body lines and possibly cutting into the silicone as they trim panels, and this causing silicone to be coming up with the wrap. MANY trailers we have wrapped here have had HORRIBLE silicone jobs that have increased the install prep work time.
#3 - If automotive paint is coming up with the wrap, then proper prep work was not done prior to painting, or a poor paint job. This is the manufacturer's problem.

2 years is NOT a long time to leave a wrap on for, so removal should have been a breeze for an experienced installer. (especially w/o primer)
I would bet that the person removing the wrap had never done so before and that the removed paint, etc is possibly from improper tools/force/etc.

got a better look at it this morning

all I can say the school beat the s$&!!,'t out of it, they back up into something
and wasnt showing with the wrap on, big old cracks in the back, they dent the whole bottom of the right side, dings everywhere, paint didnt adhere to the primer in some
spots, so evidently it lifted the paint, would we had done better probably yes, but not 100%,

hopefully they dont try to drag me into this, it was a super nice job for us, too bad it all turned to sh$$ts lol

It's not directly your fault, but you inserted yourself by providing directions on removal. The dealer obviously told the school that you provided the removal instructions. Next time, tell him it's a two step removal, 1) write you a check and 2) get of the way so you can work.
