Life of Pi ... A Remarkable Film

We watched the movie Life of Pi recently. What a remarkable piece of movie making! How they did it is still a mystery to me. How do you get a boy, a Bengal tiger, a zebra, an orangutan, a hyena and a rat all in a lifeboat and keep it looking real the entire time?

The movie was really good, but I just finished reading the book and it's one of the best novels I've read in years.

Fred, the Life of Pi is a great film, however I hate to bust your bubble, but all the animals in the boat are CG, even most of the water and the sky.

This entire film was shot in #D using 2K HD digital cameras and not 4K which is amazing.

The next thing Phototec is going to tell us is that Superman really does not fly in the movie. Say it ain't so Fred.

No bubble burst. I realize it was a combination of CG and reality. The visual effects were done by Rhythm and Hues, took more than three years to complete and Rhythm and Hues ended up in Chapter 11 bankruptcy afterwards.

If you haven't seen the film, my reference was to the scenes during and immediately following the shipwreck where we see all the animals end up in the lifeboat and the incredibly realistic interaction that occurs.
