liquid laminate

Sooooooo, I've tried frog juice to laminate short runs and had 2 problems

1. uneven surface texture
I understand that this is mostly user error, but it seemed like it was nearly immpossible to get even coverage. what are the pointers for this?

2. Flake off when applying.
With light to moderate bending as happens when hingeing, The laminate cracks and flakes off. what am i doning wrong?

I bought a couple of cans to use on short runs so I didnt have to run the big laminator, and havent bought any since, because of these problems. I know people use this stuff all the time, so whats up?

First and foremost, as with UV printer inks, the pliability is not there for conformable materials. Typically, frog juice and its family of liquid laminates is intended for flat surfaces, flat sheet work. As you have experienced, hingeing stresses and ultimately "cracks" the laminate.

clearshield is nice stuff. self-leveling and flexible.
i'm speaking clearly from experience with using the water-based clearshield on my solvent prints.

i used to frog juice for random projects until the can sat on the shelf for a year and no matter how much I stirred it back up, it never seemed to dry. needed to re-order and stumbled across clearshield, loved it, and haven't looked back.

Frog Juice is AIDS. That stuff is terrible and overpriced.

Clearshield here as well. For really big stuff I'll shoot an automotive clear. Same flexibility and far more durable.

Ronan's Aquathane clears comes UV flat, satin, gloss and last plus flexible I use it on many different ways and materials, will go over enamel, vinyl, latex, banners.

My main use is on window splash after paint I roll on letter etc. roll up, mount on window, squeegee smooth.
