Matching color on L26500's and LX850

Quick question guys, Is there anybody who matched colors on the L26500's and the LX850?

We have 2 L26500's and a LX850 and I have made multiple profiles and I cannot match the L26500 and the LX850. Even on my L26500's the gray colors are way off when comparing one to anther. North Light and HP have told me that they will not match perfectly but they should come real close to matching.

you will need a spectro setup like the caldera easy color and will need to profile each machine with its own profile. the easy color spectro will adjust the printers output based on the targets printed and will make the necessary corrections to bring the color/s into spec.

On the L26500, check your printheads. If the age of the heads differ very much, this could be the reason for different colours with the same profiles.

Color matching between different printers: there are RIP's on the market who are allowing to let different printers simulate a standard gamut, what should lead to matching colours over all your printers (CMYK-Simulation).

Because of the effects from aging and use of the Latex printheads it is very important to Re-Linearize each media settings fairly regularly if you want to maintain consistent color.

I questioned HP at SGIA last year about black in my L25500 being a bit light and they said the ink was changed in the 26500 which makes it darker and the new ink is not compatible with the old machines

I never have had issues with black being to light unless I forgot to set black as inkjet black in the RIP or there were other colors mixed with 100% black and then I would call that a milky look. Probably from ink limiting.

When you print your linearization/ink limit targets what does your black look like?

Anyone with both the L25500 and the L26500 are the blacks on your linearization/ink limit targets that much different?

You need a spectrophotometer to make the l26500 match the LX850. We have both and make them match.

On your L26500's they should be very close, on the RIP copy the profile from one printer to the other so you are sure it's the same. If they still very far apart maybe there's head needs changing.

i thought the same thing. the problem is, especially with the latex, different heads have different deterioration which causes different head voltages. one profile for multiple machines wont work.

we profile each media separate on each machine so that the spectro reads independently. this is the only way to guarantee that that printer, with those heads are within spec based on the current state of the heads in the printer.

if you run a spectro, and profile each machine with each media you will be able to get the color very close if not spot on.
