Media sensor override vj1304?

Hi,
I'm trying to print some double sided banner material.
The black in the layout is making the printer think that the material is at the end of the roll and stops the print on the second side.
Is there a setting to keep this from happening within the printer set up menu?
I see something about roll type but not sure what it does.
I suppose some tape over the sensor is the next step if I can find it.
