Mimaki jf1631 Cyan Ink level stuck on near end - have tried 3 full cartridges

Hello, ran into a first. My mimaki jf 1631 is showing me that my cyan ink level is near end and it does so on 3 brand new print cartridges that I have tried. I have never ran into this before.

Last night I ran washing fluid through the head and let it soak overnight, when I can in this morning and put in the cyan cartridge it showed ink near end and it would show up as I said on all 3 new ink carts. Any thoughts? Obviously the printer is down now.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't work on this model but I believe the ink system is identical to the other Mimakis. There is a little black lever that senses if the flag on the cartridge is sticking out which tells the machine the ink is low. That can break off which tells the machine to always be low on that color. Take a look in the cartridge area on the right, back, bottom part of the cartridge holder. Compare it to one that is working. If it looks like the lever is gone, you need to replace it. Unfortunately, when you put the new cartridge in and it flags it as low, it will always be low for that machine. You will need to find new chips to be able to use them in that machine.

VanderJ you are both the winner and a life safer!! Let this be a lesson, the lever you were referring to actually had some of the paper label from the cartridge and it was the sticky side preventing the lever from moving.

Thanks!!
