I'm familiar with Matthews, as I've talked with their rep at different sign shows. Other than Matthews, what brand/system would you recommend? I've been searching more towards the "automotive" systems (like ppg instead of their matthews sign division).

So you "Automotive" painters.....what systems do you have, or recommend? (I want to be able to paint cars also). Does anyone have a water based auto paint system?

:thankyou:

PPG makes a water based Atomotive paints. But from what I have been told all these water borne paints are still using acylic clears. If you are going to paint cars expect visits from the EPA they love auto painters:)

Waterborne paint isnt any good for a shop that doesnt have a booth and air heating/ circulating equipment, and yeah, the clearcoat (a neccessity) is still solvent based.
Sherwin Williams has an automotive line that is a bit more affordable than the big name auto paint mfgrs. like PPG , Dupont (Urethane paints)
Akzo Nobel does have an economy line. Their Sikkens paint line used to be the best!
Pittsburgh Paints used to and may still have a line of modified acrylic enamels. My local PP store had a whole mix station set up. I used to go to them before I had a liason with a bodyshop, and it was very good paint -but not for cars

I'm going with the Matthews set up next month. They seem to specialize in the sign industry and I've only heard great things about their paints.
