Mounting 4" Foam Letters backed with PVC or wood to a truss

I have a client asking me to make 4" thick letters. It's a smaller budget, so my plan is to cut 4" foam and apply either 3mm PVC or a thin sheet of wood to the back of the letters. The client thinks they can just Velcro the letters to the truss. I am worried that they would fall during the event. How would you recommend mounting letters to a truss?
