Mutoh 1204 Black Ink Fades-Out

Hello,

This has maybe been a problem on past threads, but I would like to get your opinions.

I have a 4 year old Mutoh Value-Jet / sign warehouse.

As time has passed the black ink keeps fading and I have to run a couple of cleanings / 1400x1400 double print pass to get a good solid black.

Today the black has started to run out in mid-job,again with the others colors not affected.

I have changed and the top-cap and wiper, also cleaned out the little tubes under the cap.

Talking with a tech I was told I should replace the entire maintenance station.

Your experience would be appreciated.

I think the printhead may be broken.

How can the print head be broke??

The other colors are good except black starts to fade and in some cases it will pretty much stop printing black.

Have you ever replaced your dampers or maintenance station in 4 years?

Maintenance Assy should be replaced every 2-3 years in most cases...

I will start with new dampers and o rings.

Have not replaced maintenance station since purchased new, have one on order.

Hope this will fix problem, I will keep you posted after install.

I did not call Sign Warehouse figure they would charge for tech support.

I second the dampers. Cheapest and most likely. If it prints and then can not replenish the ink the damper is clogged or failing.

There are 2 dampeners per color, is it common for both to fail?

Order 8 and replace them all.
