i have a mutoh valuejet 1204 and it is printing light. the reds come out more orange than anything. when i print twice they look fine

More info would help. I am thinking wrong profile for the media you are using.

Yea i would guess wrong profile also. Red is sometimes a hard color to hit perfectly.
