MUTOH 1204 Questions

Looking to buy a used printer. Found a maintained Mutoh 1204 with take up reel and ink with no warranty. Are these pretty reliable machines? I am coming from a Mutoh Falcon jr, are they pretty similar to run and operate? I am using Flexi v8.6. What do you think the 1204 is worth? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I dont have the money to buy a new one without leasing. In my experience leasing was a bad option. I just dont want to drop a few thousands dollars and still have headaches either. Any help and tips what to look for in buying a used printer is appreciated.

The 1204 is a great machine and will be big step up from your Falcon in speed, print quality and reliability. I stress to keep the capping station and drain tubes clean. Every issue I've ever had is a direct fault of either the capping station not having a good seal and/or the drain lines being plugged.

We have been extremely happy with our 9 mo old 1204. Bought it new, clean the wiper and capping station 2-3 times a week. The waste tray is a stupid idea that is just a revenue source for those "pads". Prints great my only regret is not having the 54" media options. Not to many places cut the media down and if they do they want to much money to cut and ship. We buy what we "have" to have from SW and they give us a great deal when I need rolls cut to size to fit the printer. Overall a great printer, good luck!

Thanks for the input. Yeah I have been reading as much info on the printer before purchasing to learn it as much as possible before hand. I think Im going to pull the trigger and get it. Its a good deal and seems like a reliable printer enough not to worry about getting it used. I have a tech that lives 20 mins away in case theres something I cant figure out. As for the waste tray, that is a horrible design. I read you can, "in a pinch" take the screws out of the top, squeeze all the ink out, clean thoroughly with cleaning fluid, let dry, reassemble and reuse. Not sure if its worth the hassle. Any other options? Maybe installing a catch can?
