Mutoh 1304 damper change.

OK - I'm trying to change the dampers in my 1304. Running into some issues.

I've got the plate screws off the front of the print head - the plate that covers the damper area. From there, i'm not stuck.

Whats the next step to exposing the dampers?

Do you have the 1304 service manual?
The damper removal is covered in the head replacement chapter starting on page 4-56.
Says to use a flat bladed screw driver to pop them up.
Might make more sense if you are stepping through it with the exposed head in front of you.
If you don't have the book pm me your email and I'll get it to you.

Good luck, I'm going to do this to mine soon so any tips you come up with would be helpful.

I doubt this will help much... but I have a 1204 I did the dampers (and head) about 6 or 7 months ago. I don't remember any special "tricks" to getting it apart, but I do remember a cover over the dampers, that was such a PAIN to get off... I never put it back. It was like 30 minutes of twisting and prying every possible angle / trying not to break other things - before I got it out.
Just look very carefully that you got all the screws out of it.
Also - you might try macmedia.com they were super helpful to me, have tons of parts in stock, and great prices.

Press the 4 tabs (have to do all 4 at once, I have a tool), lift the front up to about 30 degrees. Manipulate the part out to the left (you will have to negotiate each of the 8 ink lines). Once this part is removed you can use a Hook tool to pop each Damper up (KCYM), let them lay to the left of the CR Assy, put a Paper Towel under this area.

Thanks man! I tried to call him yesterday. I'm doing what you said to do - but the part won't rotate up at all. I'm afraid to put too much pressure on it for fear of breaking it. I'll try the friend again today to try and have him connect me with you. Thanks for the help!

Uh-oh....I got the dampers changed. I thought all was well. Now I tried to re-fill via a few little charges, and I've got ink bleeding out of the cartridge ports and I'm getting next to nothing on my nozzle checks.

What did i do wrong???!!!
