Hi guys,
I'm new to signs101 and have only been 'printing' on wide format for the past year. That said I have learned a lot but have some questions you might be able to help me with. We have a Mutoh 1304 and 1638 and a Roland XR-640. The Roland for sure is our most reliable printer whereas the 1304 is quite old and the 1638 less old, but that has had head issues on cyan for a while now. Anyway I have found the Mutoh service pretty non existent, being limited to phone calls to the US with no technicians in town while the Roland is much more reliable and we can get a technician here within two days, usually same day.
Anyway we are running Flexi 12 as it works for every machine (although personally I prefer Versaworks for the Roland). I find the colour output on the Mutohs slightly on the pink side and it doesn't work out too well when I make my own profiles using Production Manager's Colour Profiler. Has anyone had a similar issue or do you have any suggestions? Does Flexi Production Manager (we don't using the other features of the Flexi package) work well with the Mutohs or is there a more suitable software out there? Would it be possible to make a standard icc profile that can be applied to pdfs for the Mutohs and the Roland so the output is much more equal? Do I need separate software for this?
If you have any suggestions on how we can improve our colour reproduction from Flexi to the Mutohs that would be appreciated. One common problem is that it can't print greys as grey, rather it breaks them into CMYK and adds too much magenta. I'm sure it doesn't help that these two machines for sure haven't been serviced by a tech for at least 2 years.
On a side note we were looking at the HP-L360, any thoughts?
Thanks in advance, Steve
