mutoh 54" vj maintainence

I understand that the solvent based printers need to be properly cleaned and maintained in order to provide quality prints. I also know that the system needs to flushed when I head on vacation for a couple weeks and the machine will be sitting idle.

Do I need to flush the printer when it will be sitting idle over the weekend? How many square feet of material need to be printed over a 24 hour period to keep the ink from becoming stagnant?

Good morning,

You really don't need to flush the printer system unless you are putting it in storage, move or there is a must do reason. Printing is serving as cleaning. bottom line: you want the ink moves in the ink lines. There is a feature that you can set the machine to clean every hours. This is what we do if we don't print for entire week, we just turn on the machine on mondays and thursdays to do 1-2 normal cleans by press the button cleaning on the front panel for two seconds. Make sure use cleaning swabs with cleaning solution to clean up any excessive dry ink on the wall of the cap top. One of the purposes that cap top serves is to prevent ink interact with air to cause dry in the line.

Keep in mind that Mutoh suggests to change dampers ($48/ea) and maintenance station ($672/ea) every year. Keep up the maintenances so you may only need to change maintenance station 2-3 years, dampers needed to replace every year.
