Mutoh falcon outdoor jr ink draining back to cartridge

Hello everyone. I have a falcon outdoor jr and I can only get the cyk to print and no magenta. I opened up the machine (after running it through several power washings to no avail) and found no ink in the magenta line. The magenta cartridge is new and full. I used a syringe to pull ink through the damper but as soon as I remove the syringe, I can watch the ink bleed back to the cartridge. I also pulled the cartridge after pulling ink to the damper again and the ink still bled back out of the needle that goes in the cartridge.
I suspect that there is supposed to be some sort of check valve near the cartridge but I cant find anything that tells me so.

Need a new damper?

The damper should keep the ink from retreating back to the cartridge

It could also be the cause of magenta not printing because of an air leak caused by the faulty damper

I'm not expert but thats the first thing i would replace

Don't crack the plastic manifold on top of the print head pulling it off and putting back on
