Mutoh "Not Original Ink" Question

I recently upgraded the firmware on my Mutoh Valuejet. Unfortunately it started an "Ink not Original" domino effect on all of my cartridges. (The cartridges were half full at the time according to the ink status) Anyway Fellers shipped me out replacement cards and the cartridges are working again.

2 questions

Because the Replacement cards returned the ink status to 100%, will the printer know when the cartridges run out of ink? I think I remember reading about some kind of safety mechanism in the cartridge that stops the printer when the cartridges are out?

I inserted my backup cartridges when this initially happened and pulled them out when the replacement cards arrived. The backup cartridges are practically full. Will they be ok sitting for a few weeks until the old cartridges with the new chips run out of ink?

There is a tab that comes out to stop the printer when the cartridge is empty. We have a Falcon II Outdoors and use 220ml cartridges. When the cartridge is empty or stops printing it typically weighs 5.8 oz on our postage scale. We run the cartridge until it stops the printer. The machine gives a warning of lo ink when there is a good oz or more of ink still there which is a whole lot of printing. We keep a one of each color on top of the machine out of the plastic bag and ready to go, so when the machine stops, we remove the empty and insert a new one. If we plan to run the machine unattended over night, we weigh all of the cartridges, if any weigh less than 8 oz, we replace them with a new cartridge and put the old cartridge back the next morning. Have never had a problem swapping back and forth. `The ink is too expensive to toss, we have gone thru about 100 so far this year.

How did your printer work with?
cartridge with chips or breaked main board?

If your printer work with chip, "ink not original" means your chips version is lower than your current firmware.
