Mutoh SC1400D registration mark problem

We have come up with a problem on a sunny day when the light shines through the window. Even though the machine is not in direct sunlight and the other end of the room from the windows.
It doesn't read the registration marks properly and won't cut!
Has anyone come across this problem?
I need a sun canopy for my plotter!!!!

Are you reading registration marks of the bounding box variety? I sometimes keep my hand on certain materials when it takes it in. Light can seep in and be seen by the sensor when material buckles a little, and throws it all off.
