Mutoh VJ1604 take up unit has given up!!!

My take up unit has given up on my Valuejet 1604.
Has anyone ever dismantled and repaired one of these units?

As i renember there are two boards:
Power supply: if leds on takeup are working - it is ok.
Second is motor controller - easy to fix for a good electrician.
