Need A New Hobby?

About 10 years ago I had a job at a computer shop that was next door to a pool hall. Occasionally, me and some coworkers would go hang out at the pool hall after work and have a few beers. Turns out billiards wasn't really my thing, but there was another game in there calling my name... the Air Hockey table. My coworkers and I would blow off some steam with some friendly competition from time to time. At some point, we thought we were getting pretty good at it. We wondered if there were any other Air Hockey players out there. A quick Internet search revealed a weekly Air Hockey tournament at a nearby pool hall. One week, two of us summoned the courage to go see what it was all about.

The two of us may have gotten our asses handed to us at that first weekly, but I can tell you I was hooked. I have made some of the closest friends I've ever had because of Air Hockey. Believe it or not, I met my wife because of Air Hockey. I can say with all confidence that there is not a woman on the face of the Earth that can take a set off of my wife. The Air Hockey community is spread across the globe, but we all know each other. It's a very tight knit community... like a family really.

Around the same time I started playing Air Hockey, a California film student named Eric Anderson decided to start working on a documentary about the underground sport. The project went through years of evolution to what it is today. If you are interested in watching a unique film about a unique sport filled with unique characters... check out Way of the Puck on Hulu. It's free! If you have seen and enjoyed the documentary King of Kong, you will probably like this one too.

Enjoy!

Here are some pics... my wife and I celebrating in Las Vegas after an Air Hockey World Championship tournament and my wife and I with some Air Hockey friends at our wedding. Yes, my grooms cake was an Air Hockey table!

There, now you know a little too much about me :)
