Pretty sure there is no such thing as a "low cost" RIP, and if there was...pretty sure you wouldn't want it. It's the key to your printer actually giving a crap when you print jobs.

Kevin,
RIP, stands for raster imagine processing, it is what converts your graphic to a language your printer can understand,
there are many different rips available,
I am not familiar with the mutho printer, I have a Roland and it comes with it's own rip, but you are not limited to using that rip, I actually use sign lab for my rip, you need to do a lot of research before you buy to make sure that you understand what you are getting, or not getting, also do not forget you will need to get a laminator to finnish your prints, it is just as important as the printer and can cost just as much, as stated before check out fellers (not my fav) or signwarehouse, or better yet a local supplier I think midwest sign and screen has a store in Desmoines I dont know how close that is to you but it would be worht the drive to check out the print equipment and how it all works they will show you what you need to know, and you are not under any obligation to buy from them...

I'll save your post as a pdf and keep for reference and visit them soon.
Do you think I'd need lamination for arrow wraps or rear truck window decals?
And I do not remember using lamination when I worked with a sign company in the 1990's.
It was only door lettering on windows and vehicles and magnetic signs for vehicles.

You need lamination on anything going outside, and sometimes inside. I'm not sure what an "arrow wrap" is, but anything on a vehicle 100% always laminate. If it's cut vinyl, not needed, but printed...ALWAYS. I really think you are jumping into something you need to do some more research on before a major purchase. Go to some shows, pick up some magazines, and just the search function on here...it goes a long way.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help.
I'm going to have to go to a midwest reseller like posted.
It will probably help alot.
I'm trying on the search here but will need to do a webinar or youtube maybe .
If anyone knows of a good link or just have time to PM me if you stumble into a good post please do so.
A really green starter here.
Thanks,
Kev

Kevin,
look up sign warehouse ( signwarehouse.com )
and see the bundles they sell,(software printer cutter supplies laminator etc)
give them a call and talk to one of their sales reps they will help you with what you need and get you started, or see Midwest sign and screen.
you are under no obligation to purchase so call them and pick their brain
if you go to sw's web site you can brouse and check out the equipment and then call to get more answers or make anouther post here .......

what kind of lamination do you use? if you use lamination vinly, you get another layer, so i think it is harder to mount decal then? in case, that it is big format print...

Hardly any sign shops around here laminate anything, unless its going on a vehicle. I do a lot of 4x8 advertising signs and such that I never lam and have not had a problem. I always offer the service at an additional charge, but most of the time my customers choose to go without, and live with the lesser life span. These machines use solvent inks, so they should hold up pretty well without a lam, atleast that was my understanding....

$239.99 as the eBay link posted. I don't use FutureRIP but it is cheap. I use Ciberprint with my Mutoh and it does everything I want. I just can't believe it is not marketed more. It has outstandint control with printing and cutting.
Jackpine, How much is FutureRIP?
