Need info on Summa S1 D60 24 inch cutter

Hi all...I have contacted both Summa and Grimco to get some detailed info on Summa 24" plotter....

I have a Summa sign D750 pro that looks and works like new.....used it for a side biz gig for years, but lightly used.

I am doing less 'decal' work and want to sell this unit and get something with a little smaller footprint....and think a 24 inch would fit the bill.

Although I contacted both Summa and Grimco....I cannot get anyone from either ace to return my call and answer questions. It's like they don't want my money....very odd.

In particular I see there is a Summa S1 D60 24" (I think I have that right) and I see that Graphtec has a 24 inch model....a FE (or FC) 8000.

Is one better than the other?

I really like my Summa and prefer to stick with that brand, but not sure if their 24 inch model has decent servos or if the reliability would be as good as what I have. Have they cheapened these up? Does the D60 have 2 motors or just one?

Need some info on which would be a more reliable choice. Thanks good people.

Good afternoon,

The S1D60(24") model is only available for markets outside the US, so if you're in the US, the S1D75(30") is the model you should be looking at. It's the same cutter, just 30" wide instead of 24". The Graphtec alternative is the CE6000-60, which is the 24" entry level machine that Graphtec offers. The speed, cutting force, and most importantly, the accuracy, are much better on the Summa compared to the Graphtec. The FC9000-75, which is the higher end Graphtec model, will be a closer comparison to the S1, but at a higher price point.

We(Airmark) used to own and operate Summa for 20 years and I have worked with lots of members on this site in the past supplying them with all things Summa. I would be happy to go over the options in more detail with you to make sure you get what you need if that would be helpful. All my contact info is in my signature so feel free to contact me whichever way is most convenient and I would be happy to help.

Do any of these new plotters work with a Mac Studio.....I have mostly migrated away from Windows....and is the Graphtec FC9000 75 a 24 " unit? Would like to reduce floor space where this would be.

Thank you for your reply, Phil. Does the Summa 30" you reference come with a solution to cut from the MAC OS platform?

To cut from MacOs Summa provides MacSign Plug-in, a plugin that allows to send cutting data to the plotter directly from Illustrator

Thank you.....but some are also saying Summa's D60 / 24 inch plotter is NOT available for USA sales? If that is the case, I guess it will have to be the Graphtec CE8000-24 for me.
