I'm hoping it will also deter those mindless browsing sessions that sometimes consume large amounts of time...

James, that is a really great work station. I love it! :thumb: How nice to be able to stand when you feel like it and get some work done too.

Mike, I like those tables you posted a link too. I was looking for something like it recently, but planned to adjust the tables at a fixed height (lower) to match the exact height of a commercial sewing table I use pretty regularly to finish my printed banners. I searched Craigslist, and I found a Real Estate Company that was getting rid of (3) identical tables, height adjustable. The table bases are called IKEA Galant. The actual top is not ikea, but "SURFACEWORKS" which is a really high quality table, birch color. I believe they were custom made for this Company, REDFIN Real Estate.

The dimensions of the top are perfect for what I need, 24"x60" and I put sliders on the feet so I can easily push them around where I need them. I can push one over near the printer and use it to load the big rolls.

I know that they gave me about $600-$1000.00 worth of tables (yes FREE!), what a find! Solved my problems for sewing long banners and setting up a temporary sewing station for my banner work. much less work to do now!

That's a sweet desk! Even better if you found it cheap on Craigslist!

I just moved into my new office a month or so ago. I've really been wanting a standing desk, and I happened to see this one at Ikea. I don't often splurge on myself, but I went ahead and spent the money for this setup - about $400, if I remember right. I hesitated to buy a desk online without seeing it in person; just because the pictures look good doesn't mean it's actually sturdy enough. I was impressed with this one when I saw it, and so far it's working great. Though I still haven't worked up to standing all day. I usually spend about half the day standing at this point.

I did think about trying to build my own adjustable sit-stand desk. I'm really glad I didn't, because I would have probably bought all the parts and then let it sit for two years without ever finishing it.

I was at Goodwill today and picked up something called "The Wave" for five bucks. It's similar to a wobble board but it rocks in only one direction. I'm dubious of its purported cardio claims but I picked it up anyway to go with the Varidesk. It's built like a tank and made in the USA.

Now, long sessions of standing have more kinetic appeal.
