New to perf printing - any do's/don't's?

We've had our printers for a couple years now and we have never printed onto perf. before. This is going on flat glass (store front) and other than printing like normal I don't really know anything I should be watching out for. Basically looking for any tips for printing on the perf.

Print as you would normally print vinyl and don't freak out that it looks like crap as it prints. They look terrible til they hit glass. If not laminating on big windows I go with rapid tac 2 to avoid tears and get it down super fast and easy.

Quit buggin' me
Maybe bump up your contrast and saturation on the print to counter the voids in the colors.

We make sure the file has decent enough resolution and print high speed.(50% of the print is missing so res isn't as critical) Prints get shot with automotive cut in clear after drying. We've sent these all over the U.S. and offshore and have many repeat clients. YMMV

No prints (except banners, paper, etc) leave our shop without laminate. Make sure you use an OPTICALLY CLEAR laminate for perf prints.

Not to rehash an old arguement, but laminate is not required for window perf.

We have installed both on flat glass before (laminated and non laminated), does it not depend on the application whether or not to laminate? Some of the graphics we'll be printing will be going on exterior flat glass and the other portion on interior flat glass, which we would probably laminate both so they look the same. I was suggested by our distributor to use Avery DOL1560 Optically clear laminate.

You might have to play with your heat settings some to keep the material from buckling causing head strikes.

You can laminate, it will certainly increase the life span of the vibrancy of your colors. I have jobs from L25500 from 3 years ago unlaminated that still look great. We have just had many issues with laminates and perf that we avoid it unless specifically requested.
