Not Printing black after head wash...

Falcon Jr....I ran a head wash with cleaning cart's cause I wasnt going to be using the machine for a week or so, head was went fine, emptied the waste bottle, it was round about half full. So today I went to do a job, put my CMYK carts in, went though the filling cycle but no back. I popped the cover off and nothing was in the damper, so I primed it and got some ink it, nothing....I thought well i'll run another cleaning cycle, did that on just the black and checked the waste bottle, nothing in there. Is my black print head which is brand new clogged? or am I missing something somewhere else?

Thanks,
Mike

Sounds like one side, the black side, of your pump is gone. Have you tried pulling ink down through he pump using a small syringe on the waste ink line?

if you changed the damper, chances are you got alot of air in the ink lines, try syringing ink through the head from the pumps.

Gonna try that after the family dinner tonight. I have never done a head soak...what kind of cloth is best to use, and where can I pick some up?

If this dont work, I think I may order a new black print head Monday...even if that does not end up being the problem, its only $170 from Signage Specialist...I just hope its not the head fuse, Im gonna get my brothers meter and check them again too....

Don't be surprised if you have one of those junk mutoh brand cartridges. Try wedging in a piece of coroplast under the end of the cartridge to raise it up a bit and help the seal close up. We went thru every trick in the book before we found out th cartridges were bad.

Head fuses checked out to be OK, will try the coroplast trick tomorrow, but my question with that is, since i pulled ink into the damper, if the nozzles are clear, shouldn't it spray?

BAHAHAHAHA Got it! I took the black print head out, cut open an old cleaning cart, and emptied the stuff into a small container, just about 1/8" of fluid, soaked the head for 15-20 min, then took a syringe and gently pulled in and out, and got it to where I could pull and push fluid! I then dried it good and reinstalled it, and did a cleaning with cleaning carts, did a nozzle check, and BOOM it worked! Glad I didnt spend 170 unneeded bucks! I also put a piece of coro under the black cartridge just in case, realigned the head and got it going. I do have some slight nozzle deflection, but not to bad...just 2 spots...I'm going to read up on that. Thanks to all who posted and gave me tips and everything.
