Not seen a decal do this before...any thoughts?

I printed these and applied them about 6 months ago. They were applied to wood doors that were painted. What I find interesting in the photo is that the edges seem OK but the main body of the decal has tunneled. They were printed on a General Formulation premium calendered, I think 203 and I used dry erase laminate (seal), so that they could write in the names of those using the rooms for a party. I told the client I would reprint and laminate for them, but I suspect that there is something wrong with that surface.
What you think?

but how soon after the doors were painted were the decals applied?

Sounds like the calendared has shrunk a bit since the install; and the surface wasn't prepped properly before painting and it has pulled the paint up with the decal off of the door surface.

sorry for the pic came off of a phone embedded in an email. In any case I know the door paint was pretty fresh and will assume that was the problem.
