Oiling the Travel Rods for Head

Ok I need to pick all your brains. All my experience is with Roland and Mutoh. So here we go.
Mimaki JV33-160SP Using OEM ink cartridges. Flexi 8.6v2 for design and print. This shop has always only printed with one profile and has it sat at saturation for everything. I know that's wrong. They use a avery profile and print 80% on 3m vinyl and LG banner. I can see the prints colors are off. I know the profile as well as doing a print alignment will help BIG time. The other issue is that the previous guy told me i had to oil the rods that the head rides on about every 3 feet of printing. other wise end up with a lot of Y-code errors. I understand needing to oil that rod. But every 3 feet that's kinda odd. I found today a little kink in the clear y access strip which may be part of the y code errors. How hard is that to replace on this machine. Also what's the normal oiling of the rods? Any help you guys can give would be great. I'm gonna do a print alignment and bring in the proper profiles for vinyl and banner to print. Then I can see if I can get the colors better.

i have an ENCAD...........only thing i put on the carriage rod is........SILICONE. now dont spray that stuff all over the place!!!!!
i have 2" X 2" soft cotton(lint free)rag, double thick. i take this rag, hold it on the SILICONE CAN SPRAY NOZZLE.......AND DO A COUPLE QUICK SHOTS........
now i wipe the head carriage rod with the rag..........and go around it. THAT ALL NO MORE.

old paint how often are you doing this. I'm using a small paper towel 1"x1" squares and currently using 3-in-one motor oil. That's what it's called. Little white bottle with blue and red logos.

i dont print a lot, but when i get ready to make a print, i do this..........when i got the machine it constantly got an error code. i put new bushings on it and have done this with the silicone, and no more error messages. 3 in1 oil is still oil. it is a very light weight if you go by motor oil weights, this is like a 1W))))). oil is sticky, silicone is not.

Thanks Old Paint. I will switch out to silicone. LPS1 is great stuff see if I can get it locally. I thought the amount of times oiling this thing was out of control.

Anyone else?????
