Optec Red Circa 2007 - part out? Or Fix?

I've got a 4x8 Optec LED circa 2007. Red. Panels work great, all parts are fine. Controller died. Optec wants $3k for a new one. Doesn't seem like it'll be worth it. So - question from the new guy...

Buy the parts new?
Buy the parts used (can't really find)
Part it out - any recommendations as to how?
