Painting or Cleaning Alumacore

I just removed vinyl letters from an 8x4 alumacore sign. The sign is only 2 years old, but there is a slight shadow of the old graphics even though we cleaned it with Rapidremover. Is there anything that can more throughly clean it? If not, what is the best way to paint it.

Try running over it with a buffer and a mild compound. Cheaper than painting/ instant results.

If it's burned in too hard then paint it. You'll get tons of different methods from everyone here from latex to urethane. What you need depends on use/ environment, and how long you need it to last.

Another option for re-using it is full vinyl coverage.

Til you go to all the trouble of trying to bring an old sign back to life, then painting/buffing it it's gonna cost about the same as a new panel. Are you sure the ghosting you're seeing is the old vinyl or where the sun hit it and hasn't dulled as fast as the exposed portions ??

Yes. The what was not dulled is creating the shadow. I'm quoting $400 more to replace it with a new board because it going to be a pain in the ass to install it.

We go over it with some polish compound, and wax after it's lettered. Any more work that it's not worth it.

Got a pic?

The labor for vinyl removal, chemical adhesive removal without painting would be more. It’s 4x8 ft.
Just replace the panel or screw a new one over its structurally sound.
