OK, I know this is off topic, but I am a regular poster on this forum so please cut me some slack and help me out...

Chase bank is giving away big buck to charity, to be determined by how many people vote for each charity. This costs you nothing, takes less than 30 seconds, but will help these charities tremendously.

Chase is giving every facebook member 5 votes, each vote has to be used for a seperate charity. Carolina Crown is one of the charities, it is a non-profit music performance group for ages 16-21, and my son happens to me currently auditioning for them (the audition is a 5 month long process, he is unlikely to make it but has somehow managed to avoid being cut during the first 3 audition camps - so maybe?). Anyhow, I am asking for you to vote for Carolina Crown plus 4 other charities of your choice (every facebook member gets 5 votes)

The link for voting for Carolina Crown is here:

If you dont have any other favorite charities on the list, plese vote for the three other drum corps on the list:

Cavaliers
Legion Aires (Colts)
Phantom Regiment

For more information on Carolina Crown and the Chase Community Giving program, please visit http://carolinacrown.org/web/

Carolina Crown has allready won the first round of voting and has advanced to the "finals" so every votes counts - they are very close to winning!!!

Thanks for your help.

Didn't Chase get a lot of Bail Out Money?

Either way, they hold my mortgage so I hate to see my money spent this way.

Me thinking I need to look into this a bit further...

It's true, and they went up on my Chase credit cards to 30% interest, and probably gave their top executives millions in bonuses. They also just announced that they are going to give a million bucks to Haite. They are not only screwing the tax payer, they are also screwing their shareholders.

Technically though, it is really not your money. It is theirs whether they made it off of you and me or whether they stole it or borrowed it from the govenment. I dont get upset if you choose to get a home morgage loan and then give money to the bell ringer standing in front of Walmart.

They probably would make the arguement that the charity donations add value and profitability to the company as they get good publicity for it. They would probably also argue that they are fulfilling their societal obligation, and that five million bucks is only like one zillionth of their net worth and revenue. Five million bucks is all the money in the world to these small charities, but it is like a penny to them. It is also just a small fraction of the billions in bonuses that so many conservatives have defended as being nessasary to keep them from loosing "talent". Personally, I dont think that those bigshots are very talented when they ran not only their own companies into the ground, but also our entire economy.

I agree that many big companies are totally out of control. I am generally very conservative and beleive very much in a free economy, but we do need to do a better job at regulating these big companies because they do not self regulate. They live in a totally different world than us regular folk and have no sense of perspective. Five million bucks is nothing to them, each of their top executives make more than that every year.

But all that is beside the point, so anyhow, will you help me to direct their money to my favorite charity?
