Please help!

Hi, my name is Beth and I am having trouble with my Mimaki printer and cutter:

1.) JV3-130SP II Printer: I am not sure if this is an actual printer problem or if it is a problem with Flexi. The colors on my computer screen do not match what is printed. Printing profiles were not changed. Ink cartridges are not empty. It does not do it all the time, which is more confusing. I have been making color adjustments on small samples before printing the full size job but that is a waste of time and material.

2.) CG 130 FX Cutter: The person working here before me could cut through the material for decals and other printed signs with no problems. Since she left, I have not been able to do this. I can cut through the material but not the paper backing but every time I try to cut all the way through, it catches somewhere and ruins that cut and then the material gets stuck and ruins the whole job. I tried several pressure settings and one adjustment is the difference between not cut through and something getting destroyed. For now, not cutting all the way through and finishing the cut by hand is fine for small orders but I have one coming soon that will be possibly 300+ signs.

Can anyone help me?

We'll need more info on the printer issue. Post a nozzle check and maybe a print to show what is going on.

As far as the cutter issue, you cannot cut completely through vinyl successfully without doing a perf cut. The perf cut function cuts through the vinyl and backer but also leaves spots around the cut that do not cut all the way through. That way the sticker doesn't pop out during the cutting process and jam up the cutter. On Mimakis this function is called the half cut. Look it up in the user manual to see how to set it up.

You won't be able to cut completely through the vinyl and backing paper successfully, you will have to get the pressure set so that it will cut deep enough that the paper will tear along the lines (effectively scoring the paper). I used to use a 'lil chizzler to break apart the cuts running them along the score.
