Primer for canvas to make it printable with Eco Sol

fine point

New Member
Hi All.

I want to prime canvas to make it printable with our Eco Sol.

Any idea what primer we need to use?? We used 1.2.3 Paint primer and it worked sub-par. Printed Image was only ghost.

I know there is printable canvas outthere. I am not looking for recommendations for printable canvas. I am purely interested whether there are any primers or paint to make things printable.

Maybe I have to go with UV or Latex...

Thanks in advance!

You could just buy canvas that is made for ecosolv printing. Tons of options and will print beautifully.

Gotta ask why?

My dad is 94 and during our last visit he had told me "part of work is not creating more work than is necessary to complete the job."

oops, my bad, I didn't catch that - I too would be interested to know what kind of topcoat would make it work with ecosolv inks.

Lubrizol is one of the larger coating manufacturers for both solvent and aqueous inkjet primer.

The problem is that Lubrizol is not interested in smal business/small quantity purchasers, as a matter of
business policy.

Even so, my hope in providing this reference is to enable you to find a different manufacturer who
is friendly to genuine small businesses who seek to prepare their own materials for inkjet printing.

For those who might be interested in aqueous inkjet material preparation, a small business friendly
company who makes aqueous inkjet primers is is Ontario Specialty Coatings, whose order website
is https://inkaid1.com/

I just found literature from Ashland, a major chemical manufacturer that makes inkjet receptive coatings
suitable for solvent ink applications. I am not sure about their policy on small quantity/small business users.

Attached please find a brochure. Pages 3 and 4 are what should interest you.
