Print Show 2013 Crazyness

A buddy and myself went down to Print13 down in Chicago on Tuesday. Parked in the parking area for the McCormick Center. Came out and his truck was gone - stolen right out of the lot! Lot had a chained link fence and security attendants - which did no good.

We were stranded in Chicago with no ride - had to rent a mini van (that's all they had) to drive back to Wisconsin. He was driving a Ford F250 Diesel truck. After talking with the cops that is the most stolen vehicle in Chicago this year....who would've thought....

so to those of you going to the show yet this week -- be careful!

I was there on Monday same parking lot. I had one stolen a few years back and the cops told me "Welcome to Chicago".

That's crazy! The McCormick Place is huge...I mean HUGE! lol All the outdoor "Security" they have are a bunch of idiots! I've experienced them a few times. Then to have enough security to cover all that ground and to be able to recognize when someone is just walking to their vehicle or trying to steal your vehicle is impossible. Thieves are smart...they go to a huge parking lot and drive up and down the aisles and take their pick of the vehicle they want to steal because they know all the owners are a few miles away in a huge building not thinking when they come out their vehicle might not be there! lol That stinks though man!

At first the security guards told us that cars are never stolen out of that lot and to go back out and look. We came back and said that is was gone. They never even offered to call the Police for us. We called and sat on hold for over an hour. Then one of the police on the phone asked us if we were sure we wanted to fill out a report because if they found our car we would look pretty foolish. After a little bit then we were hung up on. Had to call again and sat on hold FOREVER - then just gave up. Then one of the security guys drove us down to a police station somewhere downtown so we could fill out a report. The police downtown weren't very nice - but we eventually got our police report filled out. Then we had to search for hours to find a rental car to drive back to WI in. Most rental places downtown only rented cars for within the city....

ugh--it was a pretty special day :(
