Printable reflective

Dammit, make it faster!!
Anyone have any success printing on 3M Gold Reflective material? We've only printed on 3m White Reflective and it works great but catalog says only the white is printable. We're using an HP 360 Latex with no white ink. Yeah, I know the colors may come out wonky but I think the plan is to print a "rich" black on Gold Reflective. Customer doesn't want a two stick graphic.

It will work but if the vinyl is contaminated you will have an issue. I have printed on regular white reflective with no trouble, but the last time it was contaminated and did not print nice. Others here have talked about cleaning contaminated vinyl with success.

I print on the gold with my Edge, but I've never tried it on my Latex. I have printed some nice golds on white reflective with the latex though.

We've printed on I think all of 3M and Oracal reflective with pretty good success, with thermal and inkjet.

On a different note, something ya wanna try is...... print black, just a heavy dose of black on black refelctive. Cool effect.

If you have adhesion issues wipe the surface with 90% IPA (isopropyl alcohol) and let it dry. That'll cut the oils from the surface. Print at 52c degrees heat. Remember to laminate the finished print or your ink may prematurely fail. Reflective vinyl has a different surface treatment that resists graffiti.. your ink may not bite in well enough. Better yet, just print a gold color on white and avoid all these issues. It's cheaper and will result in better quality.

Thanks all. Not sure where this job ended up. We've printed many shades of color on the 3M reflective with no problems. I'm not sure why the question is even being brought up. I suspect the customer isn't aware that we can print any color on white. When the most knowledgeable salesperson is out and another has to fill in things get misconstrued.
