Knows To Little
Just wondering what most are printing with 4 color printers or the 8 or 9 color printers.

Please fell free to post comments as to why choosing either configuration.

Looking at getting another printer, can't keep up with demand.

We've always gone with the 6+ color options in the past, but recently added a 4 color Epson S60600. The increased print speed far outweighs the increased color gamut as far as I'm concerned.

I don't think we'll go back to anything more than a 4 color unless it's a configuration that isn't available on a printer.

Added bonus is only stocking 4 inks, instead of 6-9 different colors.

4 Color (C, M, Y, K) - You'll hit most of the colors you're going to need, fastest setup, only 4 inks to stock
6 Color (LC, LM) - Some gradients will look smoother, less grainy gray scale images, doesn't actually expand gamut, not worth the speed hit in my opinion
8/9 Color (O, G, R, B, etc.) - Actually expands gamut, good for hitting specific colors i.e pantone matching, brighter colors in some instances, slowest setup without adding heads

I like the increased colour gamut of the extra colours. We have specific colours to hit and the speed takes a backseat to having precise colour.
