Printer Issue please help ASAP

Im Pretty knew to the printing side of things. I have a mutoh 1204 from SW, had it about a year, maybe slightly over. I do regular cleanings and have never had an issue until tonight. Last night I printed a red banner, fought and fought the color and couldn't figure out why. Anyways, went to print some more red stuff tonight and I am getting ZERO red color to print. I did a nozzle check and everything looks good EXCEPT on of the patterns for magenta isn't magenta anymore, its a dark blue, or a brown, or maybe a black. I opened the cover and noticed one of the magenta tubes is no longer magenta. The other tube I can see a color shift starting to happen. I have never ran the printer out of ink. The cartridge that was in it had almost 30% left but I just swapped it out with a brand new one. Please can someone shed some light on this and tell me what I need to do. Please and thank you

The most common cause for this is the maintenance station.
Check to see that it is not plugged up or the sponge is not swollen up enough to come into contact with the head.
Not sure how but some here have posted that it caused cross contamination within the head.

The second would be to check your magenta ink cart to see if it is really filled with magenta ink.
One or two here on the list have had miss-labeled carts causing this same issue.

I did end up cutting the old cartridge open and it was magenta, I have got some of the color back by printing huge pink squares but the problem is by no means fixed. as for the maintenance station the pad doesn't appear to be swollen up, I clean the wiper and capping station regularly

Where does the contamination look like it is starting from?
Is it working it's way from the cart to the carriage, or does it look like it has started in the head and is creeping back along the lines to the carts?
The only place it could mix would be in the maintenance station or maybe a crack in the manifold below the dampers in the carriage.
If it is in the head I don't think it can be fixed by the operator - might have to spring for a new one.

good luck with it

It appears to be from the cart to the carriage. After printing a 4x4 solid magenta square the color came back and the lines are starting to shift back to the magenta color.

Ok, the printer sat over night, just did the nozzle check and it looks like $hit. one of the black nozzles now has a blue tint to it. The capping station appears to have a blue color to it. could my cyan nozzles be causing issues?

Does anyone have any advice? I have been cleaning the seal around the capping station and the swab is completely blue. Can my cyan nozzles be leaking?

Sounds like you need the maintenance station serviced or replaced. The nozzles are cross-contaminating from either a swollen pad or bad head adjustment. Cleaning the station won't help - you need to start replacing regular maintenance items.

Is it possible the lines from the capping station to the waste tray are clogged? If I fill the capping station with cleaning solution should it drain or just stay full? The printer is right at a year old and has not had a huge amount of printing time on it.

Nope

I do not think it is the dampers. I think you cap top is not draining and or the waste tubes are clogged. The tubes from the maintenance station go through a connection that reduces flow and cause the line to clog. When the ink does not drain, it pools in the cap and then flows back into the head. Change the cap top. If that does not work, pull the m/s and check the tubes.
