printer opinions?

I am purchasing a printer package late this quarter and would appreciate any input. I am looking at the HP 360 and the Mutoh 1324x... about 9k different in the price (28k vs 19k so I would like some first hand viewpoints.

Can't say either one would be exactly my first choice...

But it all depends on what it is you're buying a printer to do.

I have a Mutoh 1324, the print quality, speed, ink use, and price of the printer is awesome. Maintenance is easy and running mine for over 6 months no issues at all.

19k on a VJ1324x is ridiculous. If you want a more realistic quote, give us a call. If you are paying more than 14k on a 1324 you are getting ripped off big time.

We recently needed to purchase an additional printer and were debating between the Hp 360 and the Epson 70670.

We ultimately decided upon the latex because we could do same day emergency rush prints, but it DOES have a lot of quirks and we are still not 100% happy with it yet. it was available at the time at an SGIA show special price - that also helped us decide.

What is funny is that Epson just came out with a new model of solvent printer and all of the retailers are clearancing their inventory of the current/previous model, and offering $7k off the retail price - so now we are getting one of these ALSO!

We've had our Seiko M-64 since September. It has turned into the main printer.

I vote NO on the HP360. Look at some of the other comments on this forum about the HP. Not a big fan at all.

I would also SERIOUSLY recommend you take a look at the GFP laminators instead of Seal.
We just switched over from our aging Seal to a new GFP and it makes laminating 100000000% easier. Seriously.

As far as plotters, we have our Mimaki CG plotters here and also a 48" Summa, all cut great.
I've also used a Graphtec in the past and it cut great also.

We use an Onyx RIP to print/cut on all our machines (hp/mimaki/epson).

I have a 360 and a S70 as well. They both have their place. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. Being able to finish faster with the 360 is nice, but if I had to choose one, I'd probably go with the Epson.

I have an Epson S70670 and I am very pleased with mine. No issues at all and it prints beautifully. I don't do any wraps or do too much laminating and we print/ship same day on most everything we are producing. Not sure about about HP 360 - looks cool and the pitch from HP sounds good.

What else are you not telling us about? Pretty hard to get information here when you leave 2 pieces of major equipment out of the explanation.

Why a 52" plotter? Most material is 54". What's the max. capacity of the laminator?
