What is your image format?

If in Photoshop, change image setting to grayscale.

Top tab:
Image/Mode/Grayscale.
Give that a try.

DIY Printer Fixing Guide
Magenta or green hue in grays is a fairly common issue with CMYK printing. The fix is to make and maintain your own profiles. If you can't do that, it's basically down to trial and error with your CMYK values. In your case, since it's a solid object with no gradients or images, you should be able to go into your RIP's color replacement function and replace the values the profile wants to use with a pure value of just K. You can't just do it in your design software. You have to do it in the RIP. The RIP will always reinterpret it if you have color correction on.

One day after work, create a file with some different values.
C0, M0, Y0, K100, then K 90, then K80 all the way down to K10.
Then do the 10 shades of RGB. Then print all the grays in your Pantone chart. The Cool grays, etc.
Label them all in the file.
Then print that out on your most used vinyl.
Use that as your chart for the best gray available. There has to be something in there that works.
It'll keep you from scratching around for the right gray during real working hours when the $$$ is made.
