Printer use and non use when printer is idle

I have been making signs for the las eight years primary plotter cut vinyl and application. All my print has been out sourced.

This is something I do part time given the small town I am in there is not a lot of signage needs.

However I have had a increased demand for printed jobs. So I currently looking a Eco ink system. From signwarehouse the prismjet fj 48.

I will be going to a local work shop at y local supplier is having next week. I just want to get some recommendations on a printer? And also beings how I do this part time the machine will not be used everyday is there complication with leaving a machine not in use for long periods of time if so what are they?

I am at the early stages of looking into this so any information would be great. Also does any one have a prismjet 48 if so what software are u using to rip with.

Thanks you in advanced.

this was my issue for years. i wouldn't print for four weeks at a time. but didn't want to decommission the printer. the easiest way to get around this was to get a separate set of dampers, some tubing, and a bunch of t-fittings, and a plastic container or spare clear cart. make a tubing bulkhead and feed cleaning solution to the print heads manifolds. if you lay the cart/container at just the right height, it will equalize and the printer will pull solvent flush through for cleaning cycles. the dampers with ink in them get pulled together and stuffed in a small ziplock bag. they'll be fine waiting for the next run. later on you might come up with a more exotic system (which i did. but the tubing octopus worked fine if not a bit clumsy. but still better than flushing the entire ink system).

Frankenprinter!!! love it!
I wish I could have done that with my jv3, but i just fill my capping station with cleaning solution and power-down the machine when not in use for a long time. I just wake it up to keep up with a weekly or biweekly maintenance (depending on my mood), regardless of use, and it still keeps my 8yr old printer in tip-top shape while I run my new HPlatex fulltime (with hardly any maintenance necessary!!!)

o, and, :Welcome::signs101:

Thank u any printer recommendations

Thank you for the info any printer recommendations. Also printer size right now a small one would do most my work. However I keep getting recommend to just start off big o there is no need to up grade down the road? Also how often is a laminator needed and for what types of jobs

size does matter. :Big Laugh really, it does.... you want a <36" print? walgreens will print it for you. you want a BIG print? that's where you'll make $$$.
go big (48-60"), or go cricut.

lamination for everything. sheet lam for sheet prints, liquid lam for canvas/sheet prints.
